I’m now on week 2 of the Couch to 5K running program, and about my third week of managing diet and exercising in general.
Here is where it’s starting to get a bit tough.
I’m far enough in that I’m tired and sore, and let night I was hungry enough I had a midnight snack even though I was over my calorie target for the day.
But I’m not so far in that I’m fully “bought in” to the program. I’ve only lost 2 lb, and it’s only been two weeks. It would be SO easy to slide back into the old habits, back off on the work, eat some more — especially comfort food — and to back to the old me.
The old me who was slowly dying of a killer disease. Nope. Can’t do that. Must soldier on. Stick to the plan, and give it time to work.
Looking over the last week, my average morning glucose readings have been I the 130s and 140s, instead of the 200+ numbers I was putting up before. My weight is coming down slowly, and I’m able to run farther, do more sit-ups, push-ups and chin-ups than before. Progress is being made.
I must keep going. Each day is a step forward. I cannot go back.
